Meet Dr. Schwartz

Dr. Jonathan Schwartz joins NYC Dental Arts in the Chanin Building as the 5th partner in the practice’s 86 year history. A native New Yorker, Jonathan spent a good deal of his childhood on the Lower East Side of Manhattan and attended SUNY Binghamton for his undergraduate education where he graduated with a double degree in Biology and English. In 2001, his road to Dentistry took him to Columbia University College of Dental Medicine earning high honors, and several prestigious teaching assistant positions as well as research grants for his work on Implant Bone Integration. After earning his Dental degree, Dr. Schwartz went on to complete post-graduate training in General Dental Practice at Methodist Hospital in Park Slope, Brooklyn. With a focus on high bend cosmetic dentistry, orthodontics and comprehensive preventive care, Jonathan began practicing in both Brooklyn and Manhattan. His background in teaching came in handy when after two years of practice he was asked to return to Columbia University with a full time faculty appointment as an Associate Professor of Clinical Dentistry. For seven years, Dr. Schwartz oversaw the instruction of 3rd and 4th year dental students during their first interactions and procedures on patients. At the same time Dr. Schwartz was invited to join Columbia Doctor’s prestigious Dental Faculty Practice where he began building a following of patients in Midtown and on the Upper West Side. In 2013, Dr Schwartz left Columbia to pursue private practice full time. Many of his devoted patients followed Dr Schwartz and for 3 years he practiced in the office of one of his own former professors on 59th and Madison. In 2016, Dr. Schwartz was introduced to Dr. Bruce Haber, who has operated in the Chanin Building for over 40 years. Together they formed NYC Dental Arts, to continue the long tradition of high end care for which the practice in the Chanin Building has been known for nearly a century.
