Panoramic X-ray

A panoramic radiograph (also called panorexTM) is a panoramic scanning and dental X-ray of the upper and lower jaws. It shows a two-dimensional view of a half-circle from ear to ear.  Among other things, panoramic X-rays are used by health care professionals to provide information on:

  • Impacted wisdom teeth diagnosis and treatment planning (the status of the wisdom teeth and trauma to the jaws)
  • Periodontal bone loss and periapical involvement
  • Diagnosing the source of dental pain
  • Assessment for the placement of dental implants
  • Pre and post-operative orthodontic assessment
  • Caries detection in the inter-dental area
  • Diagnosis of developmental anomalies
  • Carcinoma related to the jaws
  • Temporomandibular joint (TMJ) dysfunctions
  • Diagnosis of pre- and post-surgical assessment of oral and maxillofacial trauma
  • Salivary stones
